Superheroes

We can all be superheroes. How? We learn in gospel principles that following baptism, each of us has hands laid on our heads to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. If we are faithful, we can have His influence continually with us. Through Him, each of us can be blessed with certain spiritual powers called gifts of the Spirit. These gifts are like superpowers, but we can only have them if we are faithful to Christ. The Lord has said: “For all have not every gift given unto them; for there are many gifts, and to every man is given a gift by the Spirit of God. To some is given one, and to some is given another, that all may be profited thereby” (D&C 46:11–12). To develop our gifts, we must find out which gifts we have. We do this by praying and fasting. Sometimes patriarchal blessings will help us know which gifts we have been given. We must be obedient and faithful to be given our gifts. We then should use these gifts to do the work of the Lord. Poet?

I am no poet but here is a little poem I wrote today. Imagine years of walking a winding road, To a place you once knew, yet memories corrode. Stories told of its wondrous state, A heaven you seek, but the journey is great. The path is long, the way is steep, With trials and burdens that make you weep. So many times you've wanted to quit, The weight on your shoulders, a heavy kit. You stumble upon a mountain high, Daunting and massive, you feel you can't try. Overwhelmed, you fall to the ground, Hopeless and lost, no way around. In desperation, you beg for aid, In your lowest moment, feeling afraid. Through your sobs, gentle words you hear, A warm voice whispers, "My child, I’m here" Two strong arms lift you high, You see His scars and start to cry.  Suddenly memories start to flow, Of that special place you used to know. Heaven is no longer so far away,  For you are found, and you want to stay. His sweet smile envelops your soul, Peace and love have made you whole. N

That’s right, I was made a zone leader last week! More meetings and planning!! Gotta love it. I am very unorganized and procrastinate a lot, so this assignment, along with coordinating speaking assignments, is perfect for me. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to serve a mission. I am learning and growing so much.   We went to the cabin for memorial weekend, to Jackson the following weekend, and Utah last week. Needless to say, it can be hard to maintain a constant and consistent focus on the mission, but I try my best.  I was able to speak in church last week. We are probably the only service mission in the world that speaks in church every month. It is such a cool opportunity and privilege to get up there and share our testimonies through talks. The service missionaries are so awesome and I love them.  A quote from my talk about prayer Answers to Prayer  By Elder Brook P. Hales “The Father is aware of us, knows our needs, and will help us perfectly. Sometimes that help is given in t
