Love God


I started the English practice program this week. It is so awesome. I talk to 7 different learners from all around the world each week for 30 minutes each to help them practice English. I love hearing their conversion stories and their testimonies.


I am looking forward to going out with the teaching missionaries. We are figuring it all out so it should be in the next couple weeks. 


I love this work. At baptism, we covenant to “keep his commandments.” Jesus said that the great commandment is “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” Service is a way to love God. A section from PMG that I love:


Love of God


There are many ways we can show our love for God. We can keep His commandments (see John 14:15, 21). We can put Him first in our lives, submitting our will to His. We can center our desires, thoughts, and hearts on Him (see Alma 37:36). We can live in gratitude for the blessings He has given us—and be generous in sharing those blessings (see Mosiah 2:21–24; 4:16–21). Through prayer and SERVICE to others, we can express and deepen our love for Him.


Like other commandments, the commandment to love God is for our benefit. What we love determines what we seek. What we seek determines what we think and do. And what we think and do determines who we are—and who we will become.

Love of Others

Loving others is an extension of our love for God. The Savior taught us many ways to love others (see, for example, Luke 10:25–37 and Matthew 25:31–46). We reach out and welcome them into our hearts and lives. We love by SERVING—by giving of ourselves even in small ways. We love others by using the gifts that God has given us to bless them.


Loving others includes being patient, kind, and honest. It includes forgiving freely. It means treating all people with respect.


When we love someone, we and that person are both blessed. Our hearts grow, our lives become more meaningful, and our joy increases.

Blessings

The two great commandments—to love God and love our neighbor—are the foundation of all of God’s commandments (see Matthew 22:40). When we love God first, and also love others, everything in our lives will move into its proper place. This love will affect our perspective, the use of our time, the interests we pursue, and the order of our priorities.”


I know that the teachings of Preach My Gospel are true. It has become scripture to me. I love its plainness and simplicity. It teaches the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether or not you are a missionary, you need to read it. It will strengthen your testimony and help guide you in your gospel study. 


Matthew 25: 
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

We have been planning a fun family vacation for months. A  time to all be together. Marrieds are out of school, Phoebe is home from her mission, college kids are getting ready to go do sales for the summer, Hyrum leaves soon on his mission and Porter and Sawyer are happy for a break from school. Sorry everyone! It has been forever since we posted on here. My mom always wanted me to write these blog posts. So I guess she is finally getting what she wanted. I love being a missionary. I was set apart as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wednesday, November 15, 2023. At my setting apart, the stake president asked me to call on someone to say a prayer to invite the spirit. I asked my sister Emma to say it because I knew she would do a good job of inviting the spirit. As she was praying, she started to cry. I started to cry, and I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone else in the room did the same. The spirit was so strong. The priesthood blessing I received was extremely powerful. I was promised so many amazing blessings. I was told that nothing was broken or altered in my accident. Father’s plan for me did not change. I was told that I lack for NOTHING. I am no poet but here is a little poem I wrote today. Imagine years of walking a winding road, To a place you once knew, yet memories corrode. Stories told of its wondrous state, A heaven you seek, but the journey is great. The path is long, the way is steep, With trials and burdens that make you weep. So many times you've wanted to quit, The weight on your shoulders, a heavy kit. You stumble upon a mountain high, Daunting and massive, you feel you can't try. Overwhelmed, you fall to the ground, Hopeless and lost, no way around. In desperation, you beg for aid, In your lowest moment, feeling afraid.
